What is Surge Microwatt?
The Microwatt is a wired controller from gaming hardware development company Surge, which has been officially approved and licensed by Microsoft for use with Xbox.
Designed specifically for young gamers, the Microwatt offers full sized controller functionality in a 20% smaller form factor.
Created to visually compliment the look of the current generation of Xbox consoles, the design language has been built to work across a range of different gaming accessories.
Industrial Design Story
Having obtained the rare opportunity for an Xbox officially licensed product range, the Surge team wanted a distinctive yet flexible design language that could carry across many different product types.
Working through several rounds of Microsoft committee approvals, Fuel’s design team needed to strike a balance between feeling familiar and relatable to the current generation of Xbox consoles, while creating something exciting and uniquely identifiable for Surge.
The Microwatt is the first product to launch from the Livewire family with more products following on soon.
